We specialize on many different therapy types and depression therapy is one of those. You are never alone with Elevated Therapy! Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based psychotherapy technique designed to help individuals resolve trauma and distressing memories quickly and effectively. ART combines elements from various therapeutic modalities, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and gestalt therapy. It is used to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, phobias, and other emotional difficulties.
-
Eye Movement: Similar to EMDR, ART uses bilateral eye movements to help individuals process traumatic memories. These eye movements are thought to stimulate both sides of the brain, aiding in the integration and reprocessing of emotional and psychological material.
-
Visualization: ART involves helping the individual visualize the traumatic event or distressing memory while simultaneously guiding them to shift the perception of the memory in a positive and healing direction. The therapist helps the person replace negative images, feelings, and thoughts associated with the memory with more neutral or positive ones.
-
Reprocessing: The therapist helps the client reprocess their traumatic memories in a way that diminishes the emotional charge associated with them. The goal is for the person to no longer experience overwhelming emotional reactions when thinking about the event.
-
Therapeutic Techniques: ART also incorporates various techniques, such as changing the way the traumatic memories are viewed (for example, through the use of metaphors) or adding positive images and sensations to the memory.
-
Relief and Resolution: ART aims to help individuals experience relief from distressing memories or emotions after just a few sessions, often producing results much faster than traditional therapies. This rapid processing helps clients feel empowered and able to move on from the trauma.
